For example, subscribing to the mod "Structures plus (open source)" which overhauls and improves the entire building system in ARK, will download 1 file, and 2 folders initially. After ARK has been started, and the mod is actually installed, those will become 5 files and 20 folders full of content. New creature colors, new creatures, new challenges, new features, and a whole lot more difficulty while you're playing. This amazing mod changes the way Ark works to make it much more pleasing for the player, as well as twice as much challenging. This is due to the mods downloading to your PC through Steam and the connection has timed out due to it taking to long. Generally a server with lots of large mods is where you notice this more. If you check your Steam client you should still see the last mod downloading. So my wife and I have been playing Ark on a patreon server with mods for about 5 months now, and we love it. This answer is not useful. Show activity on this post. The way I do it is: Pause all of the downloads manually. Launch the game I want to play. Alt-Tab back to Steam window, resume all downloads manually. Alt-Tab back to the game and enjoy. It seems that it only stops the download for you on launching a game.
